About the Role
A leading commercial bank in Nigeria is seeking an experienced CISO to lead cybersecurity and information security across the Group, working closely with executive leadership, the Board, and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the Bank’s cybersecurity strategy and roadmap.
- Strengthen security across applications, APIs, cloud, infrastructure, identity, and data.
- Lead security operations, monitoring, detection, and incident response.
- Establish application security and secure software development practices.
- Improve IAM/PAM, vulnerability management, and security controls.
- Lead major cyber incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation.
- Establish security standards, risk acceptance processes, and security metrics.
- Partner with Technology Risk, Fraud, Financial Crime, Internal Audit, regulators, and Engineering teams.
- Report material cyber risks and security posture to executive management and the Board.
- Build and develop a high-performing security organization.
Requirements
- 15+ years of technology and cybersecurity experience with significant leadership responsibility.
- Experience in banking, fintech, payments, or another highly regulated technology environment.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, application/API security, IAM/PAM, SIEM, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Understanding of CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience managing major cyber incidents and security transformation programmes.
- Strong executive and Board-level communication skills.
- Professional Security Management certification required.
- CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or similar certifications are an advantage.
